EMDR-informed Coaching
break the patterns that hold you back.
Coaching in Weston-super-Mare and Online
When knowing what to do isn’t enough
You may already know what you want to change. You may even know exactly what you should be doing. Yet anxiety, self-doubt, procrastination, perfectionism or an automatic response keeps getting in the way.
EMDR-informed coaching may be particularly helpful if you…
- put off things that genuinely matter to you
- know you’re capable, but lose confidence when it counts
- struggle with perfectionism, overthinking or fear of getting things wrong
- avoid speaking up, being visible or putting yourself forward
- experience anxiety around interviews, presentations or other performance situations
- find that a previous setback or difficult experience still affects you now
- understand your patterns intellectually, but still find them difficult to change
Sometimes what keeps you stuck lies beneath conscious awareness. Earlier experiences can continue to shape how you feel, think, and respond, even when you know rationally that things are different now.
A flexible approach, tailored to you
There is no one-size-fits-all solution to getting unstuck. Our work is shaped around what you want to change and what appears to be getting in the way.
Coaching Psychology
Coaching gives us a forward-looking framework. We clarify what you want, explore what may be helping or hindering progress, and identify practical ways to move towards the change you want.
EMDR-informed coaching
If previous experiences, beliefs or emotional responses are contributing to your block, we may be able to use an EMDR-informed approach to resolve whatever is maintaining it.
Nervous system regulation
Sometimes stress, overwhelm or difficulty regulating can make change harder. Where useful, our work can include nervous-system regulation strategies and, where appropriate, programmes such as the Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) or Rest and Restore Protocol (RRP).

About Julia Scott
I’m a coaching psychology MSc graduate, psychotherapeutic counsellor and EMDR therapist with more than 20 years’ experience of helping people understand and change patterns that are getting in the way of how they want to live and work.
My background in both coaching psychology and psychological therapy means I can look beyond goals and action plans when something is proving difficult to change. We can stay focused on where you want to go, while also exploring the experiences, beliefs and automatic responses that may be holding you back.
My approach is collaborative and tailored to you, drawing on coaching psychology, EMDR and nervous-system-informed approaches where these are helpful and appropriate.

What could we work on?
EMDR-informed coaching can be helpful when you know what you want to do, but anxiety, self-doubt or familiar patterns make it harder than it needs to be.
Procrastination
You may keep putting off something that genuinely matters to you, despite understanding the consequences and wanting to get started.
Perfectionism
High standards can be a strength, but perfectionism can lead to overthinking, excessive preparation, difficulty finishing things or avoiding opportunities altogether.
Self-doubt
You may know that you are capable, yet struggle to trust yourself when it matters, particularly when stepping into something new or taking on greater responsibility.
Performance anxiety
Interviews, presentations, public speaking or other situations where you feel evaluated can trigger anxiety that gets in the way of performing as well as you know you can.
Fear of judgment
You may find it difficult to speak up, put yourself forward, promote your work or allow yourself to be seen, even when doing so would help you move towards your goals.
Overcoming setbacks
A past embarrassing moment can influence how you approach similar situations long after the original event. Exploring and processing that experience can reduce its hold on your responses in the present.
