Hello and welcome!
I’m Julia Scott, a psychologically-informed coach, with 17 years’ experience of helping people like you to navigate life’s challenges, fulfil their potential, and achieve their goals and desired outcomes.
I am an experienced counsellor and EMDR therapist, and am committed to ongoing professional development to be able to help clients with a wider range of presenting issues. I gained an MSc in Psychology (Distinction) in 2022 and have since added psychologically-informed coaching to my skillset, having trained with the School of Coaching Psychology.
Therapist to Coach
Alongside my therapy practice, I am now practising Coaching, with the ultimate goal of becoming a fully-fledged Chartered Coaching Psychologist. In pursuit of this goal, and with the aim of further enhancing my practice, I will shortly be studying for a further MSc in Coaching Psychology with the University of Chichester.
I am a Graduate Member of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and a member of their Division of Coaching Psychology. I am supervised by a Chartered Coaching Psychologist and abide by the Code of Ethics and Conduct and Practice Guidelines of the BPS, so you can be sure that you are working with a coach who is committed to ethical and evidence-based practice.
My Coaching Philosophy
At the core of my practice is a belief that everyone has the capacity for growth and positive change. My role is not to give you advice, but to come alongside you and support you on your individual journey, by providing a collaborative and person-centred space in which you can clarify your goals, overcome obstacles, unlock your true potential, and achieve lasting change.
Why Choose me as Your Coach?
- Person-Centered Focus: I believe in the uniqueness of each individual, and my coaching sessions are personalised to meet your specific needs and goals.
- Psychologically-informed: Not all coaching is evidence-based. When you work with me, you will be working with a psychologically-informed coach who is supervised by a Chartered Coaching Psychologist, and who draws from various areas of psychological research, including neuropsychology, cognitive psychology, positive psychology and social psychology.
- Between-session support: To help you maintain engagement and growth between sessions, I offer regular check-ins, support and tracking via a coaching platform.
Who do I work with?
Do you have ongoing challenges with managing stress, overwhelm and emotional dysregulation, whether at work or in your personal relationships? Do you struggle with burnout, impulsivity or lack of motivation?
Imagine a life where you feel more in control of your emotions, leading to reduced stress, improved mental health, and enhanced resilience. Picture yourself communicating effectively, building stronger, empathic relationships, and excelling in your career with greater focus and productivity. What does that feel like?
Emotional regulation is a key life skill, which is an important factor in success in any area of life, including personal and work relationships. If you have difficulties in managing your emotions, you may struggle to communicate effectively or understand others’ perspectives. You may find yourself having emotional outbursts or taking risks you later regret. You may find yourself getting easily side-tracked from your long-term goals, because of something more appealing in the here and now.
Ongoing challenges with emotional regulation can contribute to chronic stress, anxiety, and low self-worth, as you may develop negative beliefs about yourself. No matter how educated or intelligent you are, emotional dysregulation can sabotage all your efforts. Gaining control of your emotions and using them intelligently can therefore benefit your overall wellbeing and functioning in all areas of life. Yes, this really is a skill that can be learned!
With improved emotional regulation, you’ll experience improved physical health, enjoy restful sleep, and make clearer, more rational decisions. You’ll find yourself navigating conflicts with ease and achieving personal goals with greater self-control, all while enjoying increased happiness and overall life satisfaction.
If you’d like to experience improved emotional regulation and all the benefits that come with it, I can help you to get there.
Get in Touch
Are you ready to embark on your journey to personal growth and fulfilment? I invite you to complete my pre-coaching questionnaire with a view to getting a sense of whether I’m the right coach for you. If the questionnaire indicates we could be a good fit for each other, I’ll be in touch to arrange a free 30-minute exploratory meeting. This is not a coaching session in itself, but we’ll discuss the area(s) you want to focus on, and how coaching might help you to achieve your goals. You’ll also have the opportunity to ask any questions that will help you to make a decision about whether you’d like to work with me.
